Distribution Boards — technical overview

What this family covers

A distribution board is where incoming supply is split into circuits and where every circuit gets its protective device. Demte produces the full range in ABS and thermoplastic, plus metal-bodied and watertight versions, so the same catalogue covers a flat's consumer unit, a meter cabinet and an outdoor board on a site boundary.

The ranges

  • Flush mounting — recessed into the wall, blank or smoked transparent door, plastic or metal body, with an optional weak-current section.
  • Surface mounting — fitted to the wall face where chasing is not possible, including IP65 versions and a black toner finish.
  • DIN rail boards — compact boards built around a rail for small circuit counts.
  • Metering boards — prepared for monophase and triphase meter installation, with a meter compartment plus 2 to 15 MCB positions.
  • Watertight boards — blank door, transparent door, with-roof and ASA-bodied versions for wet and outdoor positions.

Design features carried across the range

  • Hinged door opening more than 180°, so the door swings clear of the board instead of blocking access while work is in progress.
  • Ready to install terminal blocks for neutral and earth connections — the bars are prepared rather than added on site.
  • Ergonomic opening and closing, with blank or smoked transparent doors.
  • Pre-drilled entries on the polycarbonate cover-version boards for faster installation.
  • Weak-current option — where it is specified, a one-row automat section becomes a low-current section for data and signal equipment.

Materials and ratings

Bodies are ABS and thermoplastic with UL94 V0 / V2 flammability classes; cover-version boards are polycarbonate, resistant to chemical and weathering agents. Protection runs from IP40 to IP65 depending on the range, with an operating temperature of −25 °C to +60 °C.

Frequently asked questions

What is the weak-current section for?

For low-voltage data and signal equipment — routers, splitters, alarm and bell transformers — kept in the same board but separated from the power circuits. Where the option is specified, one automat row is converted into that section.

Which range should I use outdoors?

The watertight ranges. Blank-door and transparent-door versions cover most positions; the with-roof versions add a rain hood, and the ASA-bodied boards use a UV-resistant material for direct sunlight.

Blank door or smoked transparent door?

A transparent door lets the state of the breakers be read without opening the board, which suits installations that are checked often. A blank door keeps the interior out of sight and out of reach in public or semi-public positions.
